Not-So-Pink Pink Wednesday--Review!

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means—PINK WEDNESDAY MANI! This mani isn’t as “pink” as you guys might think, but I wanted to show you a set of polishes I’ve bought in the past month and do a review and give you my first impressions about it.

I got so excited when I saw this kit at Walgreens about a month ago. It is the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Flirty Collection. Like the box says, it was only $9.99.

Before I picked this set up, I had 4 other colors and really loved them. I figured hey why not, I need more pink colors in my collection, so I picked this set up. I didn’t use it right away because when I got to the car, I immediately opened them to see what they looked like, and I just wasn’t impressed.

My First Impressions:

To get started, I thought that this set was great because it came with a clear polish. I love clear polishes and have gone through so many different ones, so I was pretty happy about that.

Next I was super excited about the baby pink polish that was in it because I have yet to find a really great one that doesn’t get really thick right away or that is so sheer. When I swatched it on my nail, I about cried I was so disappointed. I kept layering it, but it just wouldn’t build to the color I wanted, so I immediately thought that this was a fail.

The last color—the blue-toned pink—is a great color. It’s very pretty with the very microscopic blue shimmers. I thought it would look very good on my toes!

I kind of put off using these shades because my excitement about it faded after I swatched the baby pink polish which is called ‘Shell We Dance?’ After about two weeks had gone by I thought that I should use them because I didn’t want them to go to waste!

My Thoughts After Using them:

I tried to use the clear polish—Clear’d For Takeoff—as a top coat, but it smudged my polka dots! I was a little frustrated! But then I realized I could always use it as a base coat! So that is where it will sit from now on in my rack, right next to my OPI base coat.

While I am talking about my polka dot look, I used the pink with blue shimmers—Back To The Fuchsia—as my main color. I really like the color; I don’t really have anything like it, and it looks great on my toes and will probably be a go-to color for the summer!

Finally I used the lighter pink—Shell We Dance?—in my French manicure for this week. And I LOVE IT! I loved the way it turned out. Most colors that I’ve tried make the white tips look too pink or too tan, but this one works really well! It wasn’t streaky, and it only took one coat to get the job done.

Overall I have finally come to actually enjoy this set. I scored three polishes that would have cost $24 for only $10.

From this whole experience I’ve learned that you can’t always just judge by what it looks like when you first swatch them, and you really need to experiment and find what works best.

This Set is good If:

·         You don’t like wearing bright colors on your fingernails.
·         Your job restricts anything but clear polishes (or anything sheer like Shell We Dance?).
·         You love doing French Manicures.
·         You collect polishes! ;)

Not only does this color come with safe colors, but it also comes with a bright pink that’s great for your toes! I know a girl in one of my classes is forbidden to wear any color other than a sheer clear color on her fingernails, so she has to use her bright colors on her toenails.

Another girl was talking about how her younger daughter in elementary school cannot wear nail polish to school! That’s crazy! Little girls love nail polish!

Okay, I’m rambling now—I need to rap this one up.

I would say if you or someone you know falls into one of the situations above, this would be a great holiday gift. I know my mom can’t wear polish because of her job, so I think I’m going to go out and buy a set for her!

If you have any questions, please comment below! Would love to know if you have tried any of the Sally Hansen Sets—or just the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes and your opinions on them!

Hope everyone is having a great Pink Wednesday! I know my look wasn't as "pink" as everyone might want it to be, but I wanted to get this review up--and what better day than a Wednesday!

Black Friday Haul!

The boy and I were done shopping at Younkers in 12 minutes! Then we went across town to ULTA just to see if it was busy, but it wasn't! So I scored a few things! I've also included things that I had bought the day before Thanksgiving as well!

This last picture is of the print on the oh-so-soft robe that I scored at Younkers for $20.

Did you brave the crowds Black Friday!? What did you purchase?

Have a great week! Less then a month it will be Christmas!

REVIEW: Dotting Tool Set

Hello girls! I have a really exciting review for you today!

I have looked everywhere for dotting tools. My local Wal-Marts, Targets, and even Walgreens didn’t carry any! The only place that I have seen a dotting tool (singular) is at Sally’s Beauty Supply. It’s a double ended piece of metal with two different sized spheres for like $6.

The reason that I didn’t purchase it was because I’ve had my eye on a SET of dotting tools from I’ve seen a couple other bloggers and Youtubers do a few other reviews from this site, so I thought I would check it out. I had seen a review for their dotting tool sets, and I immediately wanted them!

I don’t have a credit card, so of course I couldn’t just buy them. So I put them on my Christmas list!

The heavens must have seen my list, and I was contacted a few weeks ago by They offered me to choose an item to review! I, of course, picked the dotting tool set.

I am so happy with these. Although I haven’t gotten to play around with them much because I have been a bit busy, these are a DEFINITE buy.

They come in a set of 5 with two ends. I don’t know if I got a defective package, but my set came with two large sphered ends, two really tiny, one mid medium, and then the others ends were all the same. I hope the pictures can help explain that better.

On the site I thought that the one ends were all the same, and the other ends were all different.

Altogether I got 4 different sized spheres. Although I thought that the one ends were all supposed to be different, I really like how there is more than one of the same size because I can use the same size, but I don’t have to stop or slow down to clean it off when I want to use a different color.

Like I said, I haven’t had much time to play around with these, but from what I could tell by the couple times I used them, I am really going to enjoy them!

I used to use old bobby pins and wooden toothpicks. They were so hard to control because they are so small, but with this set it’s like using a pencil!

Cleaning them takes no longer than a minute with a little acetone or polish remover. I store them in my coffee cup that holds all of my other nail tools.

Another downfall is I picked the set that all the handles are the same design and color—the pink set. I would suggest if you want these to get the multi-colored set so you can memorize more easily which colors coordinates with each size.

I have looked over the site and I’ve seen other things that I put on my Christmas list, so I will probably do a review on them if I get them for Christmas. Things like their Nail wheels, Stamping kits, and even false lashes!

They have a lot of really cool items for really good prices. Also they have FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE! I find that to be great because most sites you see you have really inexpensive items, but the shipping makes it so expensive and not even worth buying.

These sets of dotting tools cost $4.74. They come in two different colors like I said—a multi-color set and a pink set. FREE shipping which is great. They came in about 12 days, but they are being shipped internationally so I think 12-14 days is normal?

I even have a 5% off coupon code for you guys! It’s BRITL73 and it’s valid before February 7, 2012.

Here are all the links

I can’t wait to show you some looks using them! The picks shown are just from me playing around with them a little bit!

If you have these, or are going to buy these let me know how you like them.

Don’t forget to use the coupon code BRITL73 if you are purchasing anything from

Hope you all aren’t too stuffed from yesterday!

DISCLAIMER: I was sent this product upon review. I picked the product I wanted to try and gave my honest opinions about it. If you have any other questions, please ask.

Thanksgiving Nail & Eye of the Day!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

On my nails I am wearing Steel Grey By Rimmel and I applied my "Peek-A-Boo" Glitter gradient. They look horrible because I was in such a rush! I wish I would have painted them last night.

On my eyes I used my NAKED palette--bought it yesterday. I am still not sure how I like it this palette. A few of the colors that I used had a lot of fallout.

I am going to the boy's house for Thanksgiving this year. That's not until 6ish though, so I've got time. We are going to the cities to go shopping at midnight! Don't know what I'm buying yet, but let me know what you plan on buying!

Hope you are having a great Thanksgiving!

Closet Tour!

I've finally come to a point in my life where I want to keep my closet organized. For the longest time I would try, but it would always end up being a mess after a few days. For the past couple months or so, I have been able to keep my closet organized! I wanted to do a "Closet Tour" kind of post, so here it is!

Here are the basics of my closet! I also have my nail polish rack, but if you want to see that in more detail click HERE!

Any questions, just ask! Have a great Thanksgiving!

Nivea A Kiss of.. VS Maybelline Baby Lips

I have a review for you guys today! Not just one review but two!

I love lip balms and chapsticks. In fact, that’s the only thing that I really like to put on my lips just because lip gloss and lipstick always get in the way of kissing.

Every day I will try to reach for lip balms or chapstick just to keep my lips from becoming chapped.

Last year around this time I became a huge fan of the Nivea Kiss of Smoothness lip balm. This balm is so moisturizing and so thin. It doesn’t feel like regular balm. It’s not even noticeable on your lips, but it hydrates really well. This is a good one for guys that don’t want to look like they have shiny lips.

I loved this one so much I’ve gone through 2 tubes already. Which is another thing that caught my eye—the packaging; super sleek and a lot different from the original “chapstick” packaging.

My mom noticed that I liked it so much that she gifted me the Nivea Kiss of Shimmer for Valentine’s Day this past year. This one has a pink tint with little shimmers. It’s definitely not as smooth as the other one, but it looks great if you are trying to achieve the “I’m not wearing lip stick” look. It’s great for giving a nice natural pink tint, and it really looks effortless.

Next I want to talk about the Maybelline Baby Lips. THEASE ARE GREAT!

I first picked up the Grape Vine flavored one because I loved the color scheme and it was just the first one that caught my eye. I must say that these are just as great as the Nivea lip balms. The Grape Vine is a dark plumy purple, and when you put it on, you get a slight tint of plum on your lips. They go on so easy and smooth. This one is particularly great if you want to try the plum lip trend without being too bold. I don’t want to scare you by saying that it’s really dark; it’s just a light tint.

So after loving the first one, I thought OMG I have to go back and pick up a few more—I did, I got the Peppermint and Peach Kiss flavors. I like these both just as much as Grape Vine.

Peppermint is a great clear, ordinary balm. Smells great and if you are in to only clear balms that don’t give you any color—this is the one for you!

My personal favorite is Peach Kiss. I love nude lips and this gives it to me without having to wear lipstick. It’s just a pretty light peachy nude with lots of shine. I am always carrying this one with me. I’ve been wearing a lot of smoky eyes lately, and this looks great with them. There are three other flavors I believe, but I haven’t tried them yet.

Overall, if you are looking for something with a lot of shine, then definitely go with the Maybelline Baby Lips. If you want more of plain balm, go with the Nivea line. They both are great. I love them all. I would suggest them to anyone, and they are definitely going to be a few Christmas presents this year for some people.

All of these are $2-3 depending on where you live.

Hope you enjoyed! If you have any questions, feel free to ask—I love reading your comments!
